Hampton Classic 2010

Hampton Classic ASPCA Equine Adoption Day

On Monday August 30 Kaeli’s foundation was honored to attend the Hampton Classic’s first ASPCA sponsored Equine Awareness and Adoption Day, an event which provided a forum for rescue groups to bring their adoptable horses and to raise public awareness about equine welfare issues. Foundation horses Luna and Sabio attended the event. Sabio, our two year old mustang, residing at Seven Meadows Farm  in Goshen  NY, served as representative of the wild mustangs who are being driven off of our public lands by the Bureau of Land Management. Sabio, accompanied by  Nicole and Mary Peres, owners of Seven Meadows Farm, conducted himself with a quiet dignity and confidence as if attending a renowned horse show was a routine event. Luna, a 19 year old mare, now enjoying a peaceful retirement at Islandia Farms spoke for the many older school horses who work their entire lives teaching riding lessons and giving trail rides. These hard working horses deserve a humane retirement as they become old and and infirm.

Jill Rappaport, Today Show correspondent and passionate animal advocate hosted the well attended event and “interviewed ” all of the horses.  Sabio and Luna participated in a positive reinforcement training sessions with the ASPCA’s talented animal behaviorist Emily Weiss. Grand Prix riders and ASPCA Equine Welfare Ambassadors Georgina Bloomberg and Brianne Goutal spoke eloquently about their commitment to equine welfare. Ms. Bloomberg rode Project Sage rescue horse Noah.

Kaeli’s foundation wishes to express its thanks to the many kind and generous supporters who made the day a huge success:
Dr. Pam Corey whose love of and deep commitment to horses made this event possible.
